Bishnupur a Tentative UNESCO heritage site in West bengal

Bishnupur was founded by king Raghunath 1, of the Malla dynasty is famous for its terracotta temples. It flourished as the capital of the Mallas till the early 19th century. Since there is no stone in the area, the traditional building material was brick. The potters here derive their inspiration from the glorious history of kings, soldiers and wars.
